Spilt Milk has officially found a new long term Victorian home, with the country’s largest regional touring music festival confirming it will be held in Geelong through to at least 2030.
Backed by Visit Victoria and the City of Greater Geelong, Spilt Milk‘s multi year agreement secures the festival’s future in the region following four successful editions in nearby Ballarat. The move marks another major milestone for the event, which has grown into one of Australia’s biggest annual music festivals since launching in 2016.
The festival has become a significant economic driver for regional Victoria, across its four Victorian editions since 2019, Spilt Milk has contributed more than $46.7 million to the state’s economy, with last years event alone generating $17.2 million.
The festival also attracted more than 34,000 visitors from outside the region, continuing steady attendance growth over recent years.
Geelong is an ideal location
Kicks Entertainment Director and Co-Founder Ryan Sabet said Geelong represents the ideal location for the festival’s next chapter:
“Geelong is the perfect stage for the festival’s next five years, and we want to thank Visit Victoria and the City of Greater Geelong for backing what Spilt Milk can do – their support means we can keep proving that a world-class festival doesn’t need a capital city and keep bringing tens of thousands of young people to regional Victoria every December.”
The move has also been welcomed by local leaders, who believe the festival will deliver lasting benefits for tourism, hospitality and the wider community.
Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM said the event’s arrival would bring thousands of visitors to the city while showcasing everything Geelong has to offer beyond festival weekend.
Since debuting a decade ago, Spilt Milk has hosted some of the biggest names in global music, including Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Lorde, Childish Gambino, Flume, Doechii, Dom Dolla, Steve Lacy and Khalid. The festival has also become known for championing Australian talent, with the majority of artists on recent lineups coming from across the country.
With Geelong now locked in as the Victorian home until 2030, attention turns to this year’s event. Organisers have confirmed the 2026 lineup will be revealed soon, with fans encouraged to register for pre-sale access ahead of tickets going on sale.
After years of proving regional festivals can attract world-class lineups and massive crowds, Spilt Milk’s long term commitment to Geelong signals another significant step forward for live music outside Australia’s capital cities.
