The long lost Toxicity cut has officially hit streaming services for the first time as System Of A Down continue their 25th anniversary celebrations.
System Of A Down have finally made ‘Johnny’ available on streaming platforms, giving one of the more elusive tracks from the Toxicity era its first proper digital release (per Billboard).
Originally surfacing on select international editions of Toxicity and a UK 7-inch paired with ‘Chop Suey!’, the track has spent more than two decades living outside the band’s standard streaming catalogue.
That has now changed as part of the wider 25th anniversary rollout for Toxicity, which was originally released on September 4th, 2001.
The reissue campaign also fixes a long running tracklist error surrounding the album’s hidden closing piece. What many fans have informally called ‘Arto’ is now officially credited as ‘Der Voghormia’, a traditional Armenian hymn.

‘To our listeners, this has previously been known as the hidden track at the end of toxicity that some mistakenly call ‘Arto’. However, this composition is actually a spiritual Armenian hymn called “Der Voghormia’, which translates to “lord have mercy.” The piece is often used to commemorate the Armenian genocide, but it’s also ritualistically performed during times of grief and remembrance. When we, as System Of A Down, perform the song Live, we do it to remember the 1.5 million souls who lost their lives in 1915”.’
The anniversary edition of Toxicity arrives on November 20th, with new CD and vinyl packages, updated artwork and a bonus 7 inch featuring ‘Johnny’.
The timing is especially good for Australian fans, with System Of A Down finally returning here early next year for their first local headline run in nearly 15 years, Faith No More will join them across all three stadium shows.
