Alternative music is about to get a fresh collision of generations, with Sumerian Records unveiling Sending Hearts To All My Dearies – A Tribute To The Smashing Pumpkins, a new compilation celebrating one of rock’s most influential catalogues.
Arriving digitally on August 14th, 2026, before expanding into a deluxe 2xLP vinyl release on October 16th, the project brings together artists from across alternative, electronic, metal and modern rock to reinterpret songs from every era of The Smashing Pumpkins.
The title itself comes directly from the beloved Mayonaise lyric and was personally approved by Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan.
Leading the rollout is Australia’s own Tame Impala, delivering a psychedelic rework of Hummer originally featured on the band’s landmark 1993 album Siamese Dream. Rather than recreating the original note for note, Kevin Parker reshapes the track through his signature sonic universe, layering swirling guitars, hypnotic rhythms and dreamy textures while retaining the emotional weight that made the song resonate in the first place.
For Parker, revisiting the track was more than a creative exercise:
“Siamese Dream was the soundtrack to my high school years and ‘Hummer’ is the song that takes me back there in the most potent way.”
Line-up
Beyond Tame Impala’s contribution, the collection pulls together an ambitious and eclectic lineup, highlights include The Midnight taking on Tonight, Tonight, Palaye Royale reimagining Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Nita Strauss tackling 1979, and Between The Buried and Me stepping into Jellybelly.
