Touring with AC/DC clearly isn’t for the faint hearted, and Taylor Momsen just proved it the hard way.
The Pretty Reckless frontwoman was hospitalised in Mexico on April 14th after a venomous spider bite left a spreading rash across her leg (Per Loudwire).
Momsen had already flagged the bite days earlier on social media, but things escalated quickly, by the next update, she was posting straight from a hospital bed, documenting the reaction as it worsened.
‘Hospital today, show tomorrow, poisonous spiders are NO BUENO,’ she wrote. ‘but the show must go on, see you tomorrow Mexico City!’
From stage fun to hospital corridors
The posts didn’t hold back, one showed Momsen icing her head, another captured her being wheeled through the hospital, while a marked outline around the rash hinted at doctors tracking how far the venom was spreading.
It’s a grim visual, but not entirely out of character for a tour that’s already thrown curveballs her way, back in 2024, Momsen made headlines after being bitten by a bat mid performance in Europe, which led to a round of rabies shots.
Now, less than two years later, she’s dealing with another bite while still pushing through a demanding support slot on one of the biggest rock tours on the planet.
What kind of spider was involved?
Momsen hasn’t confirmed the species, but Mexico is home to several venomous spiders known to cause reactions like the one she’s experiencing.
Black Widows, Brown Recluses and Hobo spiders are among the usual suspects. Of those, the Brown Recluse carries the most serious bite, capable of causing tissue damage and lingering wounds, others can trigger intense pain, muscle spasms and systemic reactions depending on the person.
Still pushing forward
Despite the hospital visit, Momsen’s message was clear, she’s not pulling the plug.
The Pretty Reckless are expected to continue their run, with Momsen signalling she intends to be back on stage almost immediately, it’s a brutal kind of commitment, but one that tracks for a frontwoman who’s built her reputation on resilience as much as performance.
For fans, it’s equal parts concerning and impressive, for Momsen, it’s just another night on tour that got a little too real.
