Testament’s long-awaited follow-up to Titans of Creation is nearly here, and from what guitarist Eric Peterson is saying, it’s going to be huge. In a recent interview, Peterson revealed the band is “95 percent done” with their new album.
“We’re almost there,” Peterson told the interviewer. “It’s gonna be an amazing record. It’s all over the place, but still very focused. Lots of elements, lots of surprises.”
The band has already wrapped up most of the hard work. Drums, bass, and the bulk of the guitar work are complete, with just a few solos left to record. Peterson confirmed that Alex Skolnick still has some solos to lay down, while he himself is currently putting in some final touches. Chuck Billy, the band’s legendary frontman, is also finishing up vocals on a few tracks.
Fans won’t have to wait too long to hear the new material. Peterson confirmed singles will arrive in early 2025, with the full album expected by summer. “We’ll definitely have a couple of songs out by April or May,” he said. “We’re just waiting on the label to finalise the release date.”
Adding to the excitement, Testament recently announced plans for a June 2025 Australian tour, where fans Down Under may be the first to hear the new album live. “By the time we come over there, our new record should be out, so Australia will be the first to hear it performed live,” Billy shared in a recent interview with Blunt.
Billy also hinted at some special features on the album, including a collaboration with Nightwish’s Floor Jansen. He described the record as “not your typical Testament album, but still very Testament.”
With a promise of thrash energy and bold new directions, this album is shaping up to be one of 2025’s most anticipated releases. Keep your ears peeled for singles in early 2025, and get ready for the storm to hit in full force this summer.
