The Amity Affliction Release New Single ‘Bleed’ From Upcoming Album ‘House Of Cards’

Share

The Amity Affliction have released their new single ‘Bleed’, offering another glimpse into the band’s upcoming album ‘House Of Cards’, which arrives April 24 via Pure Noise Records.

The track lands while the Queensland heavyweights are deep into their regional Australian tour with In Hearts Wake and Redhook, and it signals a sharper, more confrontational chapter for the long running metalcore outfit.

If the album’s title track leaned into family trauma and reflection, ‘Bleed’ swings the spotlight outward, tackling the strange pressure cooker that comes with being scrutinised online.

Joel Birch fires back at online criticism

Frontman Joel Birch says the track came from the frustration of watching strangers dissect his life from a distance (per press release).

“This song is a bit of a f**k you to people online who leave comments like they know me personally, or know anything about what’s happening in my life, and a bit of a reminder to myself that I am not beholden to that idea, and I am the person I know myself to be.

“I bleed the way I bleed…” is my way of saying that I am the way I am, not the way I am perceived to be by people who don’t actually know me and have formed or projected an idea of me onto me by way of social media.”

A new era for The Amity Affliction

‘House Of Cards’ marks a significant shift for the band, the upcoming record is the first full length album featuring clean vocalist Jonny Reeves, signalling a fresh dynamic within the group’s sound.

For a band that has spent more than a decade navigating grief, addiction and mental health through their music, this era feels less like a reset and more like evolution, the emotional honesty is still front and centre.

With international touring on the horizon and the album release looming, The Amity Affliction are clearly gearing up for a massive year.
