The Amity Affliction Announce New Album ‘House Of Cards’, Drop Title Track And Video

Share

Australia’s metalcore heavyweights The Amity Affliction have announced their ninth studio album, ‘House Of Cards’, with the title track and accompanying music video out now.

Set for release on April 24th via Pure Noise Records, ‘House Of Cards’ marks a significant shift for the band, it’s their first full length album to feature Jonny Reeves as a permanent member, adding a new clean vocal presence alongside Joel Birch’s unmistakably raw delivery.

The album’s first single, ‘House Of Cards’, is a deeply personal cut written by Birch for his brother and sister, confronting the complicated and painful relationship they shared with their mother, speaking openly about the song’s meaning, Birch said (via press release):

“Our mother died in 2024 and none of us had a healthy relationship with her. She was very self-involved, aggressive, abusive in our early years and in her later years, spent a good amount of time trying to put a wedge between the three of us. Thankfully once she passed, the three of us actually became closer as we realised we had individual, but shared trauma related to her.”

That emotional weight carries through both the lyrics and the music, ‘House Of Cards’ doesn’t flinch, it leans into discomfort, pairing bruising instrumentation with reflection and restraint rather than melodrama.

The track arrives alongside a new music video directed by Daniel Daly, reinforcing the song’s stark themes with equally stripped back visuals, check it out below:
