The Armed Release New Album ‘The Future Is Here And Everything Needs To Be Destroyed’

Detroit-based hardcore group The Armed has just released their sixth album, The Future Is Here And Everything Needs To Be Destroyed, threatening drywall everywhere.

Hardcore’s most eclectic band, The Armed, has just released their sixth album, The Future Is Here And Everything Needs To Be Destroyed, via Sargent House today.

Following their 2023 album, Perfect Saviours, which saw the band move down a more arena rock style of music, TFIHAENTBD is a blissful return to form.

In an interview with New Noise Magazine, vocalist Tony Wolski described the new album as “a desperate plea against dehumanisation”, one that touches on subjects like genocide, exploitation of the poor, and toxic positivity permeating throughout culture.

The band has also recruited several new members for this project. Their first music video, ‘Well Made Play’, featured Deafheaven’s George Clarke being brutally beaten in a dark warehouse and dragged through mud.

Unfortunately, Clarke does not appear on the album in any other capacity. Yet another cruel joke played on us by The Armed.

Despite that, the album absolutely rips. The second single from the album ‘Kingbreaker’ is a frenetic spiral into hell. Lebanese noise rock group Prostitute also appears on the track ‘Broken Mirror’, featuring some of the most terrifying synth sounds you’ll hear, accompanied by dissonant screeching horn sounds.

That’s not to say the album is entirely chaotic, however. ‘Sharp Teeth’ and ‘Heathen’ provide much-needed room to breathe in between the more overwhelming tracks on the album. ‘A More Perfect Design’ closes out this album, and man, this track is an absolute monster, wrapping TFIHAENTBD in an earsplitting sonic assault on all senses.

After my first listen to the new album, I felt like I had just run a marathon and needed a long nap afterwards. It’s chaotic, jarring, dissonant, but at times blissful, leaving you beaming at its sheer boldness.

It’s fair to say The Armed have yet again hit this one out of the park. If you’re not already part of the cult, then maybe it’s time to join in.
