The Beautiful Monument Return With Their First Album In Seven Years

Share

Seven years is a long time to disappear when your music lives in people’s emotional wreckage.

The Beautiful Monument are finally back, and they’re returning with an album that sounds ready to claw straight through the chest cavity, the Melbourne alternative outfit have officially announced their third album, Euphoric Thriller, arriving August 7th via Greyscale Records.

Alongside the announcement comes the release of the album’s title track, a brooding and emotionally volatile single that leans hard into the band’s darker instincts while still carrying the massive hooks they’ve built their name on.

For longtime The Beautiful Monument fans, this record already feels like a natural continuation of the emotional honesty that made earlier releases hit so hard. Recent singles ‘Dancing With The Buried’ and ‘Cry About It’ hinted at a sharper, heavier and more self-aware version of the band, and ‘Euphoric Thriller’ pushes even deeper into that space.

Vocalist Lizi McIntosh described the album as “an emotional rollercoaster and a collection of unreleased diary entries,” shaped by grief, identity, survival and existing in a world that often feels openly hostile.

“From dealing with the grief of not only physical loss, but the emotional battle that is existing in this world as a minority and navigating our way through the uphill battle of hate and bigotry from the society that surrounds us… but make it a party.”

“If we don’t laugh we cry – so why not have a good time while internally wallowing in the fiery pits of hell that is the current state of the world.”

The title track itself explores the toxic comfort depression can create, with McIntosh explaining: “It lulls you into a false sense of security and makes you believe that you are not you without it; but deep down you know you need to run.”

Produced alongside Windwaker’s Chris Lalic, Euphoric Thriller feels less like a comeback album and more like a band rediscovering why they needed each other in the first place, there’s still heartbreak bleeding through every corner of these songs, but now it comes wrapped in towering choruses, jagged guitars and a strange sense of defiant survival.

The Beautiful Monument are currently touring Australia with Hellions before joining the HELLBOUND CRUISE lineup later this year.
