The Final M3GAN 2.0 Trailer Promises Blood, Quips… And a Dance Number

Share

Blumhouse’s killer doll sequel seems to be pushing the faders all the way up.

M3GAN, Blumhouse‘s nimble, tongue-in-cheek Chucky-meets-the-Terminator pop-horror of a couple years back, certainly found an audience. Now that audience can find a sequel in their local fleapit later this month.

M3GAN 2.0 Trailer

What’s the plot?

Writer-director Gerard Johnstone, working from a story he co-wrote with original M3GAN screenwriter Akela Johnson, introduces us to a whole new killer robot in the form of Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno, as seen in Ahsoka and Pacific Rim: Uprising). How? Some evil military contractor stole the technology used to create M3GAN and cobbled together a nightmarishly lethal infiltration robot. As you do.

Inevitably, Amelia goes rogue and all human life is now under threat. What’s roboticist-turned-A.I.-whistleblower Gemma to do? Why, resurrect the OG M3GAN, upgrade her, and set her on the hunt. What else?

Well, we can think of a million much safer alternatives before we get within sniffing distance of “unleash the death doll”, but then it wouldn’t be much of a sequel, would it?

Who’s in it?

  • Allison Williams is Gemma
  • Violet McGraw is her niece, Cady, now a moody teen, apparently
  • Amie Donald is M3GAN, with Jenna Davis on voice duties
  • Brian Jordan Alvarez is Cole
  • Jen Van Epps is Tess
  • Ivanna Sakhno is AMELIA

Aristotle Athari, Timm Sharp, Jemaine Clement are in there too, although who they’re playing is anyone’s guess.

When’s it out?

M3GAN 2.0 is in cinemas from June 26, 2025.

What’s the vibe?

Never let such paltry concerns as “logic” and “plausibility” get in the way of a good time, I say.
