Three Days Grace have officially claimed Loudwire’s Best Rock Album of 2025, with Alienation marking a sprawling new chapter for the Canadian heavyweights.
The record arrived under a spotlight brighter than anything the band had faced in years, mostly because of one massive shift, the long awaited return of original vocalist Adam Gontier, now sharing the mic with Matt Walst.
Fans wondered if the dual-vocal approach would fracture the band’s momentum or ignite something bigger.
According to Loudwire and the numbers, the answer was definitely the latter. The album produced three new Mainstream Rock chart toppers (‘Mayday’, ‘Apologies’ and ‘Kill Me Fast’), while deep cuts like ‘In Cold Blood’ and ‘Another Relapse’ became fast favourites despite not being singles.

Loudwire praised Alienation for being both a reinvention and a return to form, Gontier’s knack for digging into darker emotional territory is back in full force, while Walst’s grit keeps the band anchored in the heaviness that carried them through the last decade.
Together, they’ve built something sharper, more open hearted, and most importantly, unified.
The response
The fan response has been equally telling, on Reddit, one listener wrote, “Can we take a moment and appreciate how Matt is sounding on this album… Love the album.”
Another added, “It’s honestly shocking how well their voices pair together.” Others went as far as calling it their favourite since One-X.
Speaking to Loudwire about the accolade, Gontier said, “It’s incredible man… Just the way its resonated with everyone is just mind-blowing, man. It’s incredible.”
Walst echoed that sentiment, crediting the band’s lifelong connection, “I think that we’re really at a place where there is no egos anymore.”
The pair also highlighted their favourite track, the ballad ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home Tonight’, with Walst noting, “It just reminds me of growing up in Norwood…”
With major tours behind them and more booked for 2026, the band say writing has already begun for their next chapter. As Gontier put it, “It is kind of exciting cause it is a new chapter… we’re really excited about working together on another record.”
