Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 tournament launched in Australia

Share

You might think you’re good at Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, and you might have even gotten better after the game’s recent remaster. But are you esports good? If you’re based in Australia, you’re actually about to get the opportunity to find out, with the timely announcement of the Ultimate Jam tournament. A collaboration between Aussie esports warriors ORDER, action sports channel FUELTV, 7plus and of course, Activision, the tournament invites players of any skill level to show off and compete for the goods.

Intended as a community-focused competition, participants can play and record their favourite runs within the Jam, Combo and Speedrun experiences. All entries will receive in-game rewards, but winning prizes include signed Tony Hawk Birdhouse decks. The criteria for a win ranges from simply being the best to being the most creative and entertaining, so you might want to make sure that you’re bringing your A-game to the digital skate park. You can catch all of the action from the Ultimate Jam tournament, either as a participant or as a spectator, broadcasted on FUEL TV via 7plus.

In case you’re behind on the news, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 were remastered into a collection that dropped late last year, with a Nintendo Switch edition of the game coming in 2021. The reissue stirred up some serious nostalgia among many of us, coinciding with a documentary about the game’s impact from Swedish-based director Ludvig Gur. We spoke to Gur last year about what it was like to sit in the director’s chair with the support of the game series’ original producer Ralph D’Amato and a small crowd of pro-skaters, including Rodney Mullen and Tony Hawk himself.

UPDATE 30/6/2021: Submissions are now closed. You can catch the finals streaming first every Friday in July at 6pm AEST on ORDER’s Twitch and after that every Thursday at 5pm AEST on FuelTV and 7plus.

Think you’ve got what it takes to be the best? Submissions are now open and will close on June 15. Find out more here.
