Tony Iommi has put ‘World Alone’ on wax, with the Black Sabbath architect releasing a limited edition 7-inch of his latest single today as ‘From The Dark’ moves closer.
The physical release gives the first taste of Iommi’s forthcoming solo album From The Dark its own standalone treatment, pairing ‘World Alone’ with an exclusive instrumental version on the B-side.
Packaged inside a deluxe foiled sleeve, the 7-inch follows the single’s original arrival in July and gives collectors another piece of what is becoming a particularly heavy new chapter for the guitarist.
‘World Alone’ finds Iommi working with Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande, whose enormous voice rides across a track loaded with fast-moving riffs, guitar leads and the unmistakably thick weight that has followed Iommi’s playing for more than five decades.

The accompanying video (above) threw things somewhere considerably stranger, following a character known as The Believer through a dystopian retrofuture where survival becomes part of a twisted video game.

‘From The Dark’ Arrives In October
The bigger story, though, is what ‘World Alone’ is leading towards.
From The Dark arrives October 23rd through BMG and sees Lande appearing throughout the record, sharing writing credits across every song.
The album also features bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil, with Iommi co-producing alongside longtime collaborator Mike Exeter.
For anyone wondering whether Iommi might be interested in softening the edges this far into his career, the first material suggests otherwise. ‘World Alone’ doesn’t sound like someone cautiously guarding a legacy. The riffs are still the point.
From The Dark will arrive across multiple vinyl, CD and digital configurations, including several double-vinyl variants cut at 45rpm and a deluxe CD mediabook containing two bonus tracks.
Those bonus cuts include ‘Scent Of Dark’ and ‘Deified’, both previously released pieces that now sit alongside Iommi’s latest material.
