A Tool fan reportedly collapsed during the band’s Honolulu concert, with police still investigating and no official update on their condition.
Tool’s return to Hawaii over the weekend was marked by a disturbing incident after a fan reportedly collapsed during one of the band’s shows at Honolulu’s Blaisdell Arena. The concerts, held on December 19 and 20, were Tool’s first performances in the state since 2011. As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding the collapse, cause, or the individual’s condition, and a police investigation reportedly remains ongoing.
Initial reports surfaced early on December 21, when Alternative Nation published an article stating, “A Tool fan collapsed at the band’s show in Honolulu, with blood coming out of his mouth. Chest compressions were performed. Police searched the scene for evidence or drugs.” The outlet cited a thread from Reddit users who claimed to have witnessed the emergency response inside the venue.
One Reddit user described a moment involving Tool guitarist Adam Jones, writing, “Adam [Jones, guitarist] actually went to the corner of the stage and played guitar directly to the guy as he was getting compressions. Like he was trying to bring him back or send him off…He seems to be the only one in the band who acknowledged the incident.” The same post criticised how the situation unfolded, adding, “I think the band should have recognized the moment and not just ignored the fact that a fan just died at the show.”
That thread seems to have since been removed, but similar accounts appeared elsewhere on Reddit. In a separate discussion posted on December 20, a user wrote, “I think some dude just died (hopefully not) at the Tool concert in Honolulu. Right around when they played Rossetta Stoned and Pneuma. Please tell me he survived.” The same person later added, “spoke to a medic, when they hooked him up to the AED [Automated External Defibrillator], AED alerted a pulse, guy left the arena with a pulse.”
Multiple attendees claimed they saw prolonged attempts at resuscitation. One user said chest compressions lasted around ten minutes, while another clarified, “Five different people were doing compressions. Including two different cops.” Additional eyewitnesses described security and police responding, with one writing, “They quietly took the person down the stairs. Last I heard was someone yell narcan.”
Other concertgoers shared similar experiences, calling the situation “horrific” and noting how traumatic it was to witness. One Tool attendee claimed, “He was blue in the face. Hopeful that the EMS was correct. There weren’t any sirens though.”
Speculation online has ranged from a possible overdose to a cardiac event, with some noting that Narcan is often administered as a precaution.
However, no authorities or representatives for Tool have confirmed any details, including the actual incident happening – all accounts come from users online claiming to have attended the show. Until an official statement is released, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
We’ll be updating on this story as more official information becomes available.
