Trent Reznor revealed at a concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, that Nine Inch Nails’ Peel It Back tour may, in fact, be their last.
Bad news if you’re a Nine Inch Nails fan and don’t live in one of the few cities the band are currently expected to perform in, because those shows might be the last chance you have to see them.
Frontman Trent Reznor would speak candidly about the band’s future during their show at the BOK Centre on Friday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he would reminisce about their early days, connecting with fans in the audience.
“I think one of the first times we played here, I think maybe it was Cain’s Ballroom, like 80 years ago…. I think we were opening for Peter Murphy… and we were playing ‘Head Like A Hole,’ and I could see someone in the back screaming the fuckin’ lyrics back at me, and I thought, ‘This is all I ever wanted in life, is to connect with somebody like that dude in the back [of the venue],” said Reznor to the crowd.
“Anyway, that’s what I think of when I roll into Tulsa. I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now. And I’m fuckin’ grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight. Thank you very much.”
It’s been years since Reznor and co. have been on the road. The band wrapped their last tour in 2022, with Reznor and long-time collaborator Atticus Ross returning to score films once again.
That is, until June 15, 2025, in Dublin, Ireland, where the Grammy-winning Industrial rockers kicked off their most recent Peel It Back tour, featuring a career-spanning setlist.
Former member Josh Freese also rejoined the band a month later, trading places with Ilan Rubin, who had gone on to join the Foo Fighters.
While it’s upsetting to know the band is looking to hang up the mics and synthesisers soon, it’s encouraging that Reznor is enjoying his time on the road right now. Here’s hoping we’ll get an Australian tour sometime soon before they officially swear off touring for good.
