Donald Trump has weighed in on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show, and his verdict was blunt.
Shortly after the Puerto Rican superstar wrapped his performance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, the US President took to Truth Social to publicly criticise the set, branding it “absolutely terrible” and accusing it of failing to represent American values (per Billboard).
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence,” Trump wrote.
He continued by taking aim at the language and presentation of the performance.
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying,” Trump added.
“The dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World. This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History!”
Trump also Fired at the media and the NFL itself
“There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD — And, by the way, the NFL should immediately replace its ridiculous new Kickoff Rule.”
The comments followed one of the most culturally specific halftime productions in Super Bowl history, Bad Bunny’s set leaned heavily into Puerto Rican identity, blending reggaeton, Latin trap, and Caribbean rhythms with large scale choreography.
The performance included surprise appearances from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, alongside cameos from Cardi B and others, and quickly became one of the most discussed moments of the broadcast online.
Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, remains one of the most commercially dominant artists of the past decade. he has scored multiple No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, including Un Verano Sin Ti and Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, helping push Spanish-language music deeper into the US mainstream.
Trump’s reaction landed amid broader conservative backlash to the halftime show, while the NFL continues to push toward more global and multicultural programming. At the time of writing, Bad Bunny has not publicly responded. although audience reaction was largely positive, with clips from the performance trending across TikTok, X, and Instagram throughout the night.
