Mansfield’s favourite sons Violent Soho don’t do anything in halves. When they sneakily announced some intimate shows last week, they announced that the only tickets available would require lining up in queues at boutique record stores. Having said that, their following is such that queues stretching across streets were established outside the ticket vendors, and each and every single show ended up selling out. When Soho call, you come.
The band have announced today that the shows will take place to celebrate the announcement of their fifth studio album, Everything is A-OK, which is set to be released on the 3rd of April. The Aussie icons intend to play their new releases at the shows, alongside old classics, a true reward of loyalty for their eager and ready patronage. The album has been described by guitarist/vocalist Luke Boerdam as “honest”. “It doesn’t claim to be anything it’s not: it’s apolitical, slacker, cynical, and trying to connect with people over a shared experience in pointing out society’s failures and the personal shit that follows”.
With the announcement also comes the debut of a new track, which you can listen to below. ‘Lying On The Floor’ is the third single released from the upcoming record, with ‘A-OK’ and ‘Vacation Forever’ (which scored a very cool #69 in the latest Hottest 100) already available to sooth your Soho itch.
If you didn’t nab a ticket to this week’s affair, don’t stress. You’ve got plenty of new music coming your way, and Soho wouldn’t let their public go without for too long.
