The metal community is being asked to rally once again, this time for Vola, after a devastating fire wiped out the majority of the band’s gear at a storage facility in Copenhagen.
The progressive metal outfit confirmed via social media that a blaze broke out last week at Nettolager, the storage complex where much of the band’s equipment was housed, while no injuries were reported, the damage was extensive, with the section containing Vola’s unit completely destroyed.
In short, almost everything that allowed the band to operate day to day was gone.
The loss goes far beyond a few instruments, according to the band, the fire destroyed touring rigs, monitoring systems, recording equipment, merchandise, vinyl, and years’ worth of custom built tools and systems.
Some of the items lost, sadly they say, simply can’t be replaced.

To help recover, Vola have launched a GoFundMe, aiming to raise one million Swedish Krona, roughly $108,000 USD (around $165,000 AUD).
The band is also accepting direct donations via PayPal at [email protected]
In a statement shared with fans, Vola laid out the scale of the damage and why support matters.
“Last week, a fire broke out at Nettolager, a storage facility in Copenhagen. The section of the complex where our unit was located was completely burned down. Everyone is safe, but everything that allowed us to function as a band is gone. Most of our Vola equipment was stored there.”
They added:
“This was the whole infrastructure behind Vola. Instruments, touring rigs, audio and monitoring systems, recording equipment, merch, vinyl, and years of accumulated tools built specifically for this project. Among the items lost are those that cannot be replaced, not to mention the immense time it takes to build these racks and systems.”
The impact has also hit their crew, not just the band.
“Members of our crew lost essential tools required to do their work… This project has always been bigger than the people on stage.”
Vola say funds will go directly toward rebuilding a functional live setup and getting back on the road.
“We are deeply grateful for every message, every share, and every form of support. Thank you for helping us keep Vola moving forward.”
