Matt Zane Shares Clip Of Unfinished Wayne Static Track ‘Infiltrator’

A previously unheard Wayne Static track has surfaced online, but not without stirring up more controversy around the late Static-X frontman’s legacy.

Filmmaker and musician Matt Zane has released a short clip of an unfinished song titled ‘Infiltrator’, claiming it was recorded by Static during solo sessions years before his death, the track is tied to Zane’s long discussed documentary about Wayne Static and his late wife Tera Wray, a project that both families have publicly opposed.

Despite the pushback, Zane has continued promoting the film and teasing unreleased material connected to it (per Loudwire).

The Unreleased Wayne Static Track

Zane posted the clip to social media, describing it as part of the archive of music Wayne had shared with him in the past:

The filmmaker insists the song was originally intended to appear in the documentary, the estates of Wayne Static and Tera Wray, along with members of Static-X, have refused to approve the use of the unreleased recordings.

“I want to make it clear, I’d love to finish and give Wayne’s fans his final recording but the families and Static-X aren’t allowing it,” said Zane. “I’d give 100% of the profits of the music to Wayne’s and Tera’s family as long as the recordings were kept in their original form. They were recorded as Wayne Static solo music, not Static-X.”

Where The Music Came From

According to Zane, the recordings date back to 2008, when he was directing Tera Wray in her music series Radium, during that period, Wayne reportedly provided music intended for the project.

“Warner Brothers stopped us but not before Wayne gave me a bunch of stuff,” Zane explained. “I cover the entire ordeal in the documentary. I have a video of Wayne publicly admitting he wrote music for the series.”

Zane says he now plans to complete some of those unfinished ideas for the documentary’s soundtrack.

“There are songs that I won’t touch that Wayne wrote 100% of,” Zane stated. “But all the misc. riffs and other ideas are what I’ll use. Wayne liked what I was doing with them so I figure I’m on the right track.”

A New Vocalist For The Tracks

Because he cannot legally use Wayne Static’s original vocals, Zane is now searching for a vocalist to record new versions of the songs.

“It’s just like what Jonathan Davis did for the Queen of the Damned soundtrack,” Zane said. “He wasn’t allowed to sing on that soundtrack so he brought in other singers, including Wayne!”

Zane claims the documentary could feature six previously unreleased or unfinished Wayne Static pieces, with ‘Infiltrator’ being the first to emerge.

With the estates of both Wayne Static and Tera Wray firmly against the project, the fate of the film and the unreleased material is still very much up in the air.
