Everyone’s streaming crime and horror this week, it seems. Must be the season.
Everyone seems to be in a grim mood this week, or else Halloween cast a longer shadow over your streaming choices than I might expect. The excellent Weapons is once again at #1, knocking Netflix‘s nuclear drama, A House Of Dynamite, down to #2. That’s actually pretty impressive for Kathryn Bigelow’s latest; after their debut weekend, streaming movies tend to drop like a stone. Yes, technically A House Of Dynamite did get a brief theatrical release, but it’s very much an “if a tree falls in the forest” situation as far as I’m concerned.
Looking further down the chart, I’ll just say it’s nice to see classics like Halloween and Scream get a spooky season boost.

On the serial side of things, crime author Mick Harron is having an exceptionally good week. Apple TV+‘s Down Cemetery Road, adapted from his first novel, is your #1 streaming series this week, and season five of Harron’s Slow Horses, also on Apple TV+, is holding steady. Meanwhile, HBO‘s IT: Welcome To Derry is definitely going to hover around the first few slots for the duration of its first season, mark my words.

Personally, I’m happy to see Task still holding on in the middle there, and I’ll take the time to exhort you once again if “Mark Ruffalo as a priest-turned-FGI-agent” sounds like your jam.
