What became abundantly clear a few seconds into Thornhill’s Oxford Art Factory gig was that they do not half-step. Not even slightly.

On 20 March, they played their Bodies album release show at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory. The venue was packed wall to wall with fans who knew every word and certainly weren’t shy about it.

They opened with ‘CRUSH’ and did not waste any time with setting the tone. It was a huge atmosphere, tight execution, and a front row that nearly took the barricade down. From there it was ‘DIESEL’ and ‘Revolver’, the kind of back-to-back punch that shows just how far they’ve come from their early Butterfly and The Dark Pool days.

Since forming in 2015, Thornhill have never been afraid to shift gears. What started as metalcore rooted in emotional chaos has twisted into something slicker, darker, and more cinematic with every release. Bodies, their latest full-length, leans even further into that identity—less breakdowns, more tension. Live, it hits harder than expected.

‘Silver Swarm’ and ‘Only Ever You’ proved they can still go heavy without defaulting to old habits. Tracks like ‘TONGUES’ and ‘nerv’ rode the line between groove and gloom, keeping things murky in all the right ways. ‘Obsession’ and ‘under the knife’ dialled into the theatrical edge they’ve built across the past few years—equal parts swagger and self-destruction.

After tearing through the set, the band gave the crowd one more: a second run of ‘Revolver’, picked by the fans. It didn’t feel like a repeat—if anything, it hit harder the second time around.

Thornhill have always walked the line between reinvention and familiarity, and this show proved just how good they’ve gotten at both. Bodies might be their cleanest, most refined release to date, but live, it still bleeds the same intensity they built their name on.
