Watch Footage of Weezer Bassist, Scott Shriner’s Wife Holding and ‘Firing’ Gun

It is surely one of the wildest stories to emerge about a band this year. I mean, it sort of reads like a film.

Weezer bassist Scott Shriner’s wife was arrested for attempted murder, bailed and then Shriner went on to play Coachella.

Things have now taken yet another turn though. Footage has emerged showing Jillian Shriner holding and allegedly firing a gun in her backyard.

Shriner was arrested on April 8 after being shot by a police officer in Los Angeles. According to the LAPD, officers were in the middle of a hit-and-run manhunt when a suspect tried to enter the Shriner property. Jillian reportedly fired at the suspect and then allegedly pointed her weapon at police, refusing to lower it even after multiple warnings.

In newly released LAPD bodycam and surveillance footage, Jillian, who publishes books under the name Jillian Lauren, can be seen walking around the yard with a handgun before racking and firing it. Officers, standing behind a fence, are heard repeatedly ordering her to drop the weapon. Moments later, an officer says: “Oh, she racked it,” and police opened fire, hitting her in the shoulder.

She then fled inside her house, only to be taken into custody about an hour later after receiving hospital treatment. She has been booked for attempted murder and, according to reports, posted $1 million bail ahead of a court date set for April 30. A 9mm Glock handgun was recovered from the scene, along with a spent shell casing.

Following the incident, Scott Shriner kept it low-key but confirmed to fans that Jillian was “alright” and that Weezer would still be performing at Coachella as planned. The band played their set last weekend without directly addressing the incident, choosing instead to stick to the music.

Meanwhile, the LAPD’s investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with the department stating that all released footage represents the current state of evidence.
