Gavin Rossdale doesn’t do things halfway. Three decades after Bush’s rise with 16 Stone, the frontman is still packing arenas, dropping new records, and even cooking up meals on TV.
The band’s latest release, I Beat Loneliness, might be their most personal yet. Rossdale leans into the themes of isolation and resilience without sugarcoating them, showing that Bush’s grunge grit hasn’t dulled with age. For long time fans, the album sits somewhere between the raw bite of 16 Stone and the maturity of a songwriter who’s spent his life riding the highs and lows of rock.
It’s not all about guitars and grit. Rossdale is set to debut his cooking series, Dinner With Gavin Rossdale, on September 17 through Foxtel and BINGE. Could he see himself trading tours for stoves? In another life, absolutely!
That creative spirit spills into touring too. I mention that my first post-COVID gig was Bush with Stone Temple Pilots, also my daughter’s first ever live band. Rossdale laughs, humbled by the thought, then mentioning I have to bring her back to the next one, as he can top it.
When’s Australia Getting Its Next Taste?
Rossdale is itching to get back, saying it’s definitely on the cards and looking like early next year, fingers crossed. We briefly talk sport, and while he’s known as a tennis tragic, he sidesteps the Australia vs England cricket rivalry. Hey, at least I tried though right?
Bush are currently on tour across the U.S. with Shinedown, before wrapping with festival slots in September. With a new album, a cooking show, and hints of a return Down Under, Rossdale is proving that Bush’s are far from slowing down.
Bush’s new album I Beat Loneliness is out now. Dinner With Gavin Rossdale premieres 17th September via Foxtel and BINGE. For updates: bushofficial.com.
