Anne Hathaway is a pop star haunted by something in the new horror flick from The Green Knight director David Lowery.
“This is not a ghost story” the trailer for Mother Mary tells us, and thank Christ for that because good lord did that 2017 offering from writer and director David Lowery suck absolute ass. There’s a fair chance that this one won’t though, given the rest of his filmography is pretty great. Here, as in the recent Smile 2, he’s putting a fictional pop star centre stage for some manner of seemingly supernatural shenanigans. It’s being billed as a psychological thriller, but judging by the trailer there’s definitely something occult going on. Or it’s just the aesthetic – who can say?

Excellent question! Some time in 2026 – can’t do better than that. The US release is set for
What’s the vibe?
Intriguing! As is customary for A24, actual details are as scant as the philosophical themes underpinning A Ghost Story (God, I hate that fucking movie), but David Lowery is a bit of a gun – in fact, he did The Old Man And The Gun with the late and much-lauded Robert Redford. His stuff is always worth a look.
