Hevenshe Rallies Community for Pride Month Event ‘A Celebration of Femmes and Thems’

Hevenshe is headlining a powerful night of queer joy and performance in Sydney this week with ‘A Celebration of Femmes and Thems’.

Hevenshe is putting it all on the line this Pride Month with ‘A Celebration of Femmes and Thems’, a one-night-only event set to take over The Vanguard in Sydney on June 20.

Best known as the frontwoman of Tonight Alive, Jenna McDougall’s solo project Hevenshe is fast carving out its own legacy. Her most recent release ‘Floor Bed’ is a raw, grunge-laced coming-out anthem that hits with intent, pairing heavy emotion with unflinching honesty. She also recently joined Parkway Drive on stage during their groundbreaking Sydney Opera House performance, further solidifying the project in the scene.

McDougall describes her genre as “Life-Affirming Femme Rock”, and her performances are built around crowd participation, emotional catharsis and connection.

The show, curated by Hevenshe with what’s been described as “love and rebellion”, is a night of live performance that unites women, queer and gender diverse artists in a full-bodied celebration of community, identity and creative expression.

Joining her on the bill is a line-up of local performers across multiple disciplines, each bringing their own take on queer joy and creative liberation in what’s set to be a playful, energetic night. That includes pole artist Oryx, burlesque-comedy trailblazer Demon Derriere, queer community line-dance crew Saddle Club and euphoric mixmaster DJ Waisze. The event promises music, movement and what the event calls “laughter medicine” in equal measure.

Tickets are on sale now via Moshtix for just over thirty bucks if you’re around Sydney on Friday and keen to get amongst celebrating an event that truly is by the community, for the community.

For anyone who values grassroots art, identity reclamation and the magic of queer performance, A Celebration of Femmes and Thems is one worth showing up for.
