Primitive Blast Surprise-Release First New EP In Six Years, ‘D.I.D.’

Sydney hardcore band Primitive Blast have shared D.I.D., a brand new five-track, eight-minute EP, with no prior announcement.

It marks the band’s third EP overall, with their last Animalistic having arrived in July of 2020. It was released yesterday (September 22nd) digitally, and is slated for physical release via Last Ride Records in Australia and Triple B Records in the US.

Like Animalistic, D.I.D. (short for “Downward in Dissolution”) was recorded at Chameleon Studios in Sydney with producer and engineer Elliot Gallart – who has worked with a multitude of Sydney hardcore bands, most notably Speed on their ARIA-winning debut album Only One Mode.

“As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait,” wrote the label about the new EP.

“This has always applied to Primitive Blast, and is the case once again with their new record D.I.D.: Five new tracks of lean and hard punk hardcore, the style that PB have been perfecting now for over a decade.”

To launch D.I.D., Primitive Blast have planned a “one night only” headlining show – which will mark their first gig since January, where they were the opening act for Turnstile‘s sold-out charity show at the Metro Theatre in Sydney.

The show will take place at the Burdekin Hotel in Sydney in just a few weeks’ time on Friday, October 9th.

Also joining the bill are Scram, Orc, Mauler, ’82 Inferno and a mysterious new punk duo named S.Y.Destruction.
