Ex-Asking Alexandria frontman Dennis Stoff has called out the band for $5M in unpaid royalties and mocked Danny Worsnop’s Warped Tour performance.
Former Asking Alexandria frontman Dennis Stoff has reignited drama with his old band, publicly accusing them of owing him a staggering $5 million in unpaid royalties.
Stoff, who sang on the band’s 2016 album The Black, took to Instagram yesterday to share his grievances while mocking current vocalist Danny Worsnop for what he called a disastrous Warped Tour set.
“Hey fam. I don’t even know where to start here,” Stoff began his statement. “I simply couldn’t ignore the AA situation that’s circling around the internet right now. First of all, I’d like to say thank you for the amount of love that you all showed me in the comments. I appreciate you all. Now let’s get to it.”
He then took aim at Worsnop’s recent performance: “I’ve seen the videos, I laughed my tits off, and I loved it. Like hundreds of people mentioned in the comments, this is what they always sounded like live since the beginning of their career. I was rolling on the floor laughing years ago when Danny said that I was performing to his backing tracks which was an awful and a 100% fake statement.”
“As you can see in [Asking Alexandria’s] Warped Tour 2025 show, Danny is clearly having tons of backing tracks in their live set and is clearly incapable of giving a good performance to the people who paid money for their tickets and simply wanted to see a good show. Here’s a few video performance comparisons that show a drastic difference in skill and effort showed on stage.”
Stoff included video clips comparing performances to emphasize what he claims is a stark difference in quality between his shows and Worsnop’s. Some fans in the comments noted that the ex-frontman had included some of Asking Alexandria’s worst performances against a solid one from the time he was with the band – making it not a particularly accurate comparison. However, Stoff’s point still stands that fans alike were unimpressed by what Worsnop had to offer onstage at Warped Tour.
Poor performances aside, the biggest bombshell came when Stoff accused Asking Alexandria of failing to pay him royalties for The Black: “I would never return to a band that has still NEVER presented a single royalty statement for The Black album and has failed to pay out an estimated $5,000,000 of my profit share, as stipulated in the contracts I signed with them at the time. This includes revenue from song authorship, sales, streams, deals, show tickets, performance guarantees, and worldwide merchandise sales.”
Stoff alleges he has sent countless emails about the situation to the band and their representatives since his departure in 2016 but claims he’s been ignored. “To say the least, back in 2015–2016, I was misled into believing that the business side was transparent and that I would receive all of my royalties in full and on time,” he continued.
He finished by thanking his supporters: “For almost a decade, I stayed silent and ignored all the witty comments that were meant to cover up my departure from [Asking Alexandria] back in 2016, sweep my money under the rug, and help the band move forward without any public drama. But now, considering everything that has happened over time, I simply can’t help but share the truth with you. Thank you so much for your continuous support. I love you all dearly.”
Fans have pointed out the eye-popping $5 million figure seems unrealistic given Stoff’s short stint with the band across only one album. Others suggest if his claims are accurate, he should pursue them legally instead of through social media. Asking Alexandria have yet to publicly respond to Stoff’s accusations.
Whether Asking Alexandria does, in fact, owe Stoff a substantial amount of cash or not, it looks like the drama in AA camp isn’t clearing up any time soon.
