Bring Me The Horizon are releasing a 23-song lo-fi album with reworkings of their biggest tracks, dropping this Friday.
Lo-fi girl is getting a heavy twist this week: Bring Me The Horizon are switching gears with the surprise release of Lo-files, a 23-track collection of lo-fi re-workings of their most iconic songs. The album drops this Friday, July 11.
The band first teased the project on July 8 via social media, writing: “We’ve collaborated with producers we love from the lo-fi scene to launch a new project where we’ve reworked [Bring Me The Horizon] songs and created lo-fi versions. These tracks are for chilling, focus, sleeping, zoning out… whatever u like.”
The following day, they confirmed the full details: the album is titled Lo-files, and includes 23 ambient and downtempo reinterpretations of tracks from across their catalogue.
Pre-save links are already live, and fans can get an early taste via ambient clips posted across Bring Me The Horizon’s Instagram feed. The previews are atmospheric and minimalist, soundtracking backstage moments, rehearsals, and behind-the-scenes footage.
While this project might come as a curveball, Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes had already hinted at a more relaxed approach following the intense release cycle of Post Human: NeX GEn.
Speaking to Kerrang! last year, he said, “We wrote so much for NeX GEn, there’s so many cool songs that are kicking about, and I think the world would love to hear them. I would love to get out maybe a ‘director’s cut’ version of the record or something. But I’m trying to put less pressure on myself, and not promise anything!”
In the meantime, Lo-files offers fans a completely different angle on Bring Me The Horizon’s sound, with a bit less pit, and a bit more peace. Perfect to relax/study to if you’re already in a lo-fi hole like I am and want to switch it up a bit!
