Disturbed’s David Draiman took to social media this weekend to call Tom Morello’s support for Kneecap “shameful”.
Disturbed frontman David Draiman has called out Tom Morello after the guitarist praised Irish Hip-Hop group Kneecap, comparing them to Rage Against The Machine.
Draiman took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a Far Out interview with Morello, in which he made a comparison between his former band and Kneecap. Draiman wrote that Morello’s support was “Shameful. Truly. Wish I could say I was shocked.”
The Disturbed singer added, “Guess my family doesn’t count, when it comes to my ‘friend’s’ virtue signalling for those who support terror, and incite Jew hatred.”
Kneecap have been vocal supporters of the Free Palestine movement. Earlier this year, the band made headlines at Coachella after displaying the message “Fuck Israel, free Palestine” on the screens behind them.
While plenty of musicians, including Morello, have come out in support of the group, others, like Sharon Osbourne, have called to have their work visas revoked. Draiman himself has publically supported Osbourne’s response.
Both David Draiman and Morello were also involved in Black Sabbath’s recent Back to the Beginning performance, where Draiman was booed on stage allegedly over his support for Israel. However, he later took to X saying that the boos were overblown by the “#FreePalestine crowd”.
David Draiman has continued to receive backlash online after sharing a post of himself signing missiles for the IDF while visiting Israeli bases last year.
Kneecap responded to the Disturbed frontman on X a day later, stating, “We don’t care what religion anyone is…or if they’ve one at all,” they began. “We love all sound cunts.”
The group would continue on to reference David Draiman’s recent scandal, “Smiling and signing bombs dropped to murder kids and other people’s families just makes you a straight up cunt. Simple as. Free Palestine.”
