The AFL has confirmed that Snoop Dogg will be headlining the AFL Grand Final’s pre-game entertainment show.
In an odd twist, the AFL has announced that Snoop Dogg will be performing at this year’s AFL Grand Final. The rapper will headline the pre-game entertainment at the MCG on September 27.
Snoop Dogg joins the list of international artists to headline the big grand final day, including fellow ‘California Girls’ collaborator Katy Perry, Robbie Williams and The Killers.
“It’s an absolute honour to be hitting the stage at the AFL Grand Final,” shared Snoop Dogg. “It’s one of the biggest events on the Aussie calendar. Can’t wait to bring the energy and celebrate with the fans. Let’s make it unforgettable.”
The AFL’s CEO, Andrew Dillon, released a statement following the announcement, sharing:
“The AFL Grand Final is the biggest event on the Australian sporting calendar – and this year, it just got a whole lot bigger,” he wrote.
“Snoop Dogg is a pioneer, a performer, and a true entertainer. He’s played to packed stadiums around the world – but we think 100,000 fans at the MCG might just be his most iconic crowd yet.”
“We want Grand Final Day to be an unforgettable celebration of footy – and beyond the four quarters of the match, a celebration of culture, energy, and entertainment. Snoop fits that brief better than anyone.”
Snoop Dogg last visited Australia in 2023 as part of his “I Wanna Thank Me” tour, headlining venues such as Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.
Since then, the ‘Gin and Juice’ rapper has made appearances at several unlikely venues, including the President’s Crypto Ball in 2024, a concert in Fortnite and a surprise performance at The Game Awards in 2024.
The 2025 grand final begins at the traditional time of 2:30 pm on September 27.
