Kim Dracula Survives Tour Bus Fire In Texas

Share

Kim Dracula has revealed details of a frightening escape from a tour bus fire while supporting Ice Nine Kills in the US.

Tasmanian alternative metal artist Kim Dracula has shared a frightening account of escaping a tour bus fire on Instagram, after a blaze broke out at 6am in Texas while the crew was asleep inside.

“I was in the back behind a locked door and was woken up by my crew banging on the door telling me to get off the bus,” they wrote. “We all got off immediately and within 30 seconds the entire bus was engulfed in flames, starting right where I was laying down.”

Everyone on board made it out safely, but the fire destroyed most of their possessions, including performance essentials. With equipment gone, their scheduled performances in Texas and Arkansas were cancelled.

Videos shared online show the bus fully consumed by flames, with firefighters later extinguishing the blaze. Kim Dracula apologised to fans who had planned to attend the cancelled shows but promising to rejoin Ice Nine Kills’ Hell of a Summer Tour at the Madison, Wisconsin date on August 27.

Here’s Kim Dracula’s full post:

“At 6am this morning our bus caught fire while we were sleeping. I was in the back behind a locked door and was woken up by my crew screaming and banging on the door telling me to get off the bus. We all got off immediately and within 30 seconds the entire bus was engulfed in flames, starting right where I was laying down.

Most of us lost all our possessions, including things we needed for the show. As such, we were unable to perform tonight and will not be able to perform tomorrow.

We hope to be back on the road supporting Ice Nine Kills starting in Madison, WI. I am sorry to any of you who were looking forward to seeing us perform. I was unable to make this post any earlier as I lost my phone in the fire. Everyone in the crew is safe, however, including myself. We look forward to jumping back in soon.”

Kim Dracula rose to prominence during the pandemic through viral TikTok metal covers of mainstream hits, with their version of Lady Gaga’s ‘Paparazzi’ becoming a breakout success. In 2020, they became the fourth most-followed Australian music artist on the platform. They have since pushed beyond TikTok, releasing the album A Gradual Decline in Morale in 2023.

Earlier this year, Kim Dracula toured the US with Japanese metalcore outfit Hanabie, and is set to bring their Horror Down Under tour home to Australia in November.
