PlayStation Is Bringing Back Its 30th Anniversary Collection For A Limited Time This November

PlayStation is bringing back its retro-themed 30th anniversary collection this November for a limited time, with pre-orders opening up later this week.

Good news for nostalgia-heads! PlayStation has finally announced the second batch of its 30th anniversary collection, with pre-orders available later this week.

The bundle will feature the 30th-anniversary DualSense controller, PlayStation Portal, and PS5 Slim (unfortunately, the PS5 Pro anniversary edition won’t be included this time around), and will release on November 14th.

For those unaware, the 30th anniversary collection is a sweet-looking redesign of the PlayStation 5 console, Dualshock controller, and PlayStation Portal set to the theme of the original PlayStation console released back in 1995. The new design comes decked out in that classic grey colour scheme, with gorgeous blue highlights.

As of writing, EB Games has revealed it will be taking pre-orders on Wednesday, October 15 at 11:00am AEDT. The catch here is that these will be exclusive to EB World Plus members only and will be limited to one item per person due to limited stock.

JB Hi-Fi has also confirmed that they’ll be taking pre-orders, which will be available from 10:00am AEDT on Wednesday, October 15th.

Amazon pre-orders are still unavailable as of now; however, they were offered in the last round and should be available around the same time.

The first PlayStation was released in Japan on December 3rd, 1994, and went on to sell around 102 million units worldwide. Fun fact, Sony would actually catch some controversy after marketing the console as being “more powerful than God”.

While it’s funny to laugh at now (especially given how powerful consoles are these days), nothing broke an early 90s gamer’s mind quite like seeing that epic 3D opening cutscene in Final Fantasy 7. Except, of course, later seeing Sephiroth pull out his “Supernova” move and destroy half the solar system in the middle of the fight. So, maybe Sony was onto something there.
