The Amity Affliction’s next album is recorded and (almost) finished, and it’s going to be called House of Cards.
The Amity Affliction are almost ready to drop their next album, it seems. In a new interview with The Aquarian, the Aussie heavyweights confirmed that the album is finished (minus a few finishing touches in post-production and mixing), and it’ll be titled House of Cards.
During the interview, Joel Birch was asked whether their most recent single ‘All That I Remember’ was leading up to a new The Amity Affliction album. Birch was more than happy to spill the news: “It’s finished! It’s called House of Cards. We haven’t told anyone that yet. You’re number one.”
“We’re just finishing up with mixing and a few post-production things. We wrapped it up a month ago. Longer than that actually, 5 weeks away [we wrapped up]. We recorded in Australia right by the beach. The spot we recorded was paradise, really. It was easy, enjoyable, and it’s actually the first record I’ve enjoyed recording ever,” he said. “I f**king hate recording. It’s stressful.”
The Amity Affliction frontman added that the pressure made recording stressful, and he was unable to scream on the first day. “I didn’t know what was going on. I was having a mad freak out,” he said. “I was looking at Dan like, ‘Dude, what the fuck is happening to me?'”
‘All That I Remember’ is the band’s first release since parting ways with Ahren Stringer, and the first to feature their new clean vocalist Jonny Reeves. The single dropped in late May, and it’s been pretty quiet on the new music front since – and now we know why.
While Birch was happy to confirm the name and status of House of Cards, there’s no word yet on exactly when we’ll be getting new The Amity Affliction music. However, from the sounds of it, it’s likely going to be very soon. Hopefully before they play Park Waves?
