Metallica’s return to Adelaide on November 5, 2025 wasn’t just another tour stop. It was a full-blown evening of thunderous riffs, massive production and a crowd that knew exactly what was coming and then got a few surprises anyway.
Thousands packed the Adelaide Oval to see James, Lars, Kirk and Rob deliver a show that blended career-spanning hits with a few city-specific touches that kept things interesting.

A Night Built for the Diehards
Adelaide’s show had a few tweaks compared with the band’s opener in Perth. The set included Leper Messiah and King Nothing, while still delivering staples like Master of Puppets, One, Sad But True and Seek & Destroy.
Mid-set came the now-familiar Kirk and Rob doodle segment, a short jam that has become a quirky highlight of the Australian leg. In Adelaide, that doodle merged INXS’s Need You Tonight with The Angels’ Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. That second one hit especially hard, given The Angels’ Adelaide roots. Over in Perth, the doodle featured John Butler Trio’s Zebra, confirming a growing trend that Metallica are tailoring each show with a local shout-out.

Fans are already placing bets on which local act might sneak into the doodle next. Melbourne could get AC/DC or The Living End, Sydney might see a nod to Cold Chisel or Midnight Oil, and Brisbane could end up with something from Powderfinger or Violent Soho.
Whatever happens, this Australian run is shaping up not just as another victory lap but as a genuine thank you to the scenes that raised generations of heavy-music fans and the same ones still screaming every lyric back at the band all these years later.
