Amyl and the Sniffers Announce Free Melbourne Show After AC/DC Tour Kickoff

Amyl and the Sniffers will play a free one-night-only show at Fed Square on November 14 following their AC/DC tour debut.

Amyl and the Sniffers are set to play a free, one-night-only show in Melbourne this week. The city’s own punk heroes will take over Fed Square in the CBD on Friday, November 14, fresh off their first night supporting AC/DC on the band’s Australian POWER UP tour.

The surprise gig was announced this morning (just two days out from the performance), giving fans a rare chance to see Amy Taylor and her bandmates bring their explosive energy to the heart of the city without a ticket price. Known for their chaotic, high-voltage live shows, Amyl and the Sniffers are expected to deliver a blistering set for Melbourne fans.

Opening the show will be Public Figures, a new pop-rock outfit featuring Evie Vlah (Sunfruits, Mika James) and Gigi Argiro (Sunfruits, Folk Bitch Trio, Elizabeth M Drummond). They’ll warm up the crowd with a mix of AC/DC covers and original tracks before Amyl and the Sniffers take the stage.

The show will kick off at 7:30 and run until 9:30, although given how busy these kind of free gigs get, you’re best off rocking up early to score a good spot.

Katrina Sedgwick OAM, Director and CEO of MAP Co, described the event as a continuation of Melbourne’s commitment to live music and community. “Amyl and the Sniffers are one of Australia’s most explosive live acts. Fearless, magnetic, and completely unmissable. High Voltage continues Fed Square’s commitment to bringing iconic artists to the heart of Melbourne, celebrating the city’s proud music heritage with events that are free, open and welcoming to all,” Sedgwick said.

The event, titled High Voltage, follows a string of major outdoor shows hosted at Fed Square this year. Previous free concerts have featured King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Robbie Williams, Kneecap, and more, drawing tens of thousands to the precinct.

Amyl and the Sniffers’ surprise performance is expected to be one of the standout moments of Melbourne’s live music calendar, and the best part (especially after a week where every second there seems to be a new tour announcement) is that there’s no ticket required.
