Kneecap have returned with a sharp new single, ‘No Comment’, a track that tackles the terrorism charge brought against member Mo Chara earlier this year, a charge that was ultimately thrown out in September.
True to form, the Belfast trio aren’t holding back, using the song to confront the political pressure and policing they say has shadowed them for years.
Announcing the single on Instagram, Kneecap wrote: “It’s all about the police witch hunt against Mo Chara. Free Palestine. Free the 6 counties, Fuck the peelers,” adding that they’ve already been playing the song live on their sold out run across Europe and the UK.
In a separate statement shared via Pitchfork, they were just as direct: “‘No Comment’ is about getting harassed by the British state. Simple as. Us Irish are well used to it, been happening for centuries. Was a pleasure to work with Sub Focus on this, the man is a legend.”
The case against Mo Chara, real name Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, was dismissed on a technicality after a London judge ruled that the Crown Prosecution Service failed to file the charge within the six month window required. Ó hAnnaidh had been accused of displaying a Hezbollah flag at a Kneecap show in London in November 2024, though police were only notified months later in April 2025. The charge was then filed in May, one day past the legal deadline. Judge Paul Goldspring labelled it “unlawful and null.”

Despite the dismissal, the CPS announced in October that it would appeal the decision, saying there was “an important point of law which needs to be clarified.” Kneecap were unsurprised, in a statement, they called the appeal a “massive waste of taxpayers money, of police time, of court time,” arguing the entire process had been politically driven. “This is political policing,” they said. “What there is though, is a state wide witch hunt against Palestinian solidarity.”
‘No Comment’ arrives at a time when the band’s profile is only growing, and they’re clearly not interested in softening their stance.
