Anthrax have officially wrapped recording and mixing on their long-awaited new album, marking their first full length release since 2016.
The update comes directly from drummer Charlie Benante, who confirmed that the band have finished the sessions with producer Jay Ruston, once again behind the desk for the project.
Portions of the album were tracked at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Southern California, adding another layer of legacy to a record already primed to be a major moment for fans. Benante shared the news with his usual dry humour, writing:
“We completed mixing on the new Anthrax album and it’s a doozy – the working album title is ‘hey, go fck yourself’. It’s a very New York album; you can grab a slice and walk around and listen to it while eating. Oh yeah, Dave Grohl is our new singer. There is only one true thing to what I said.”*
Perfect timing
While the band haven’t yet confirmed a release date, this update signals that the first new Anthrax record in ten years is finally on the horizon, and the timing couldn’t be better for Australian fans.

Anthrax are set to return to Australia in March 2026, their first trip here since 2019. The run includes four shows across Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, bringing more than four decades of thrash history back to local stages. Now, the news of the finished album means fans may well hear new material live for the first time when the band touches down next year.
It’s a huge moment for Australian Anthrax diehards, a brand new album after a decade of waiting, and a full national tour just months later.
