HEALTH have shared an all-new single, ‘Shred Envy’, taken from their upcoming new record, CONFLICT DLC, releasing December 11.
If you thought you were sick of HEALTH singles, well, you’d better think again, because the band have dropped a fifth track from their upcoming record, CONFLICT DLC, releasing December 11 via Loma Vista Recordings.
Titled ‘Shred Envy’, the new track takes the band back to their signature sound: chugging guitars, industrial percussion and frontman Jake Duzsik’s chilling vocals.
Supplementing the new single is a video that features members John Famiglietti, Jake Duzsik and B.J Miller performing the track over footage from the anime Chainsaw Man. Which for any fans of both anime and HEALTH, makes for a very obvious pairing given the shared themes between the two.
You can listen to the new track and watch the visualisation below:
We’re just over two weeks away from HEALTH dropping their sixth non-collaborative studio album, and so far, we’ve heard just over a quarter of the record thanks to the generous single drops.
In an interview with NME, frontman Jake Duzsik revealed that CONFLICT DLC would be a direct continuation of the themes and sounds on 2023’s RAT WARS, but also promised to expand and push them a bit further.
“If RAT WARS feels like a concept record in this expansive landscape, then Conflict DLC is going to distinguish itself by being more uptempo, more bangers, more fun and shit I know will be fun to play live.”
If you need proof of the band sticking to the word, ‘Shred Envy’ is direct proof that the band is comfortably sitting within RAT WARS territory. However, other tracks like ‘VIBE COP’ and ‘THOUGHT LEADER’ prove that the band are willing to break the mould and go deeper with their sound.
‘VIBE COP‘ would see the return of Lamb of God guitarist Willie Adler, who would appear on the track ‘CHILDREN OF SORROW’ on Rat Wars. Once again, Adler would lay a mean riff for the new track, merging HEALTH’s industrial metal sound with Adler’s signature metal riffs.
‘Thought Leader‘ would also be an unusual single from the band, marking HEALTH’s most bleak and foreboding tracks to date.
So, if you loved RAT WARS and wanted more of that sound, CONFLICT DLC is surely shaping up to be a worthy successor.
