My Bloody Valentine have joined “No Music for Genocide,” blocking their music from Israeli streaming platforms.

Shoegaze icons My Bloody Valentine have added their name to the growing list of artists taking part in the “No Music for Genocide” campaign. As part of the action, the band has geo-blocked its catalogue on streaming services in Israel, joining a wave of artists who have made the same move. Denzel Curry, Shygirl and Saba are also now officially part of the boycott, which has expanded to include more than 1,000 artists and labels.

The organisers behind “No Music for Genocide” describe the initiative as a direct response to “the genocide in Gaza; ethnic cleansing of the Occupied West Bank; apartheid within Israel; and political repression of Pro-Palestine efforts wherever we live.” The campaign is one of several cultural efforts calling attention to the situation in Gaza and the West Bank, drawing participation from musicians across genres and continents.

The movement launched in September with a large list of early supporters, including Massive Attack, Kneecap, Fontaines D.C., Rina Sawayama and Japanese Breakfast. Since then, Lorde, Paramore and Hayley Williams, Björk, IDLES, and many others have joined.

Its organisers point to label sign off as an essential piece of the effort, as streaming restrictions often require approval from rights holders. A recent campaign update highlighted that Paul Weller and Massive Attack received “long-awaited geo-block approvals” from Warner and Universal, allowing their cataloguess to be included.

The campaign’s website continues to track participants and offer updates on its outreach efforts. Supporters have also been raising funds for people in Gaza and the West Bank. A New York benefit held last month brought in over seven thousand dollars, with all proceeds directed to mutual aid groups and on-the-ground funds in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank.
