Hundreds of Radiohead fans held a Copenhagen karaoke takeover after Thom Yorke fell ill and shows were postponed.
Radiohead fans in Copenhagen proved there’s no keeping a devoted crowd down. After the band postponed their first two shows at Royal Arena due to Thom Yorke suffering an “extreme throat infection,” fans turned their disappointment into a full-blown communal celebration.
On December 1, Radiohead confirmed that the concerts planned for December 1 and 2 would be delayed by two weeks. The new dates are set for December 15 and 16. Tickets are being automatically transferred, and refunds are available at the point of purchase. The upcoming December 4 and 5 shows are still expected to go ahead.
With the first night suddenly off, fans stuck in the Danish capital searched for a way to salvage the evening. One fan took to Reddit and floated the idea of gathering at a bar for a Radiohead-themed karaoke night, joking that everyone should “channel that disappointment into some Radiohead karaoke.” They even booked a room that was supposed to hold just 25 people. However, the scale of what followed reportedly blew past anything that was planned.
Cory McLeod, the Reddit user who sparked the idea, told NME exactly how wild it got: “We made a Radiohead party in a karaoke bar in Copenhagen and around 1000 people turned up. It was packed all night! This was the best alternative for everyone who travelled so far to be there.”

Footage shared across social media shows crowds belting out Radiohead favourites together, crammed shoulder-to-shoulder and turning the cancelled gig into a unique kind of fan gathering.
Radiohead has not issued any further update beyond the postponement announcement, but fans now have an unexpected story to take home as they wait for the rescheduled dates. Copenhagen may have missed its first shot at seeing Radiohead this week, but the love for the band was just as loud as if they’d been packed into the arena.
