Kid Rock Says Trump Played Him A Song He’d Never Heard Before On The Golf Course

Share

Kid Rock has shared another glimpse into his ongoing friendship with Donald Trump, revealing that a recent round of golf with the former US President came with an unexpected musical moment.

Posting to X, Rock said Trump played him a live recording of James Brown and Luciano Pavarotti performing ‘This Is A Man’s World’, a collaboration the rocker admitted he had somehow missed until now.

“Golfed with your favorite President again recently and he played me a live version of James Brown and Pavarotti performing ‘This is a Mans World,’” Rock wrote.

“Can’t believe I have never heard this. Incredible!”

The unlikely pairing of the Godfather of Soul and the legendary Italian tenor has circulated for decades, but Rock’s surprise highlights how deep cuts can still catch people off guard, even those who’ve spent a lifetime around music.

Pavarotti passed away in 2007 at the age of 71, while Brown died the year prior at 73, their joint performance remains one of the more unexpected cross-genre moments in live music history.

Golfing buddies

This isn’t the first time Rock has publicly spoken about golfing with Trump, back in March, he shared another post recounting a round that also included Elon Musk dropping by.

“Was golfing w POTUS this past weekend. Always dang fun. He is the absolute GOAT,” Rock wrote on X, adding that Musk came out to “hang for a few holes.”

Rock, who has long been an outspoken Trump supporter, also played piano at the White House earlier this year, continuing a relationship that regularly blurs the lines between politics, celebrity, and spectacle.

Musically, Rock has largely stepped back from the road, while he played a small number of shows this year, he currently has no concerts scheduled for 2026. His focus appears split between selective performances and public appearances tied to his political views.

Charlie Kirk tribute

Last month, Rock delivered an emotional moment on stage at the Hondo Rodeo Fest in Arizona on November 8th, stepping in for Cody Johnson, who was recovering from a ruptured eardrum. During the set, Rock paused while covering Johnson’s ‘Til You Can’t’, explaining he had written an additional verse inspired by the late Charlie Kirk, who passed away at 31.

Whether on the golf course or on stage, Kid Rock continues to find himself at the intersection of music, politics, and headline grabbing moments.
