Wes Borland has sparked fresh debate online after posting a blunt message aimed at supporters of U.S. President Donald J. Trump.
Over the weekend, the Limp Bizkit guitarist shared a statement to his Instagram Story telling Trump voters and supporters to unfollow him, as well as anyone who remains friends with people who support the Trump administration (as per Lambgoat).
Borland wrote:
“If any of my followers voted or support Trump or are still friends with anyone who supports the Trump administration you’re out. F*ck you. Never contact me again.”
The post circulated quickly across social media, drawing a wide mix of reactions and quickly becoming a talking point beyond Limp Bizkit’s fanbase.
Chris Fronzak of Attila chimes in
Not long after, Attila frontman Chris Fronzak (Fronz) responded publicly with his own comment, questioning Borland’s approach and suggesting it could alienate a large portion of his audience.
Fronzak wrote:
“I thought he was smarter, kind of a retarded thing to say, there’s no reason to lose most of your fan base over a political opinion lmao”
No stranger to controversey
Fronzak has long been known for courting controversy throughout his career, from Attila’s earlier lyrical approach to public feuds and various headline grabbing stunts. However, despite previously running a tongue in cheek “campaign” for president, he has generally been less direct when it comes to engaging in political discussion compared to other artists.
Borland’s post has added to a growing list of recent moments where artists have drawn hard lines between themselves and parts of their audience based on political beliefs, often prompting wider conversation about whether musicians should separate their work from their views.
At the time of writing, Borland has not followed up with further comments beyond the original Instagram Story post.
