Don Henley Says 2026 Will ‘Probably’ Be The Final Year Of The Eagles

Don Henley has suggested that 2026 may mark the end of the road for the Eagles, with the band’s long running farewell era finally nearing its conclusion.

The comments come as the legendary rock group continue their massive Las Vegas Sphere residency, part of their ongoing ‘The Long Goodbye’ tour, the residency is currently scheduled to wrap up at the end of March, and according to Henley, that may be where it all stops.

Speaking to CBS Sunday Morning, the Eagles co-founder was asked directly about the band’s future beyond this year:

“You know, I think this year will probably be it,” Henley said.

“And I’ve said things like that before, but I feel like we’re getting toward the end. And that will be fine too.”

Priorities shifting

Henley, now 78, went on to explain that his priorities are shifting away from touring and towards time at home, after decades spent moving between airports, hotels, and arenas, he said he is looking forward to a slower pace.

He shared that he wants to spend more time with family, grow vegetables, and travel properly rather than just passing through cities on tour schedules.

“I’ve been all over the world, but I haven’t seen much of it, because we see the airports and the hotel room and the venue and we don’t get out much, you know?”

The Eagles’ Sphere run was initially announced as an eight-show engagement, but demand quickly forced multiple extensions, the final shows are now locked in, with the residency officially ending on March 28th.

Formed in 1971 after Henley and Glenn Frey played together in Linda Ronstadt’s backing band, the Eagles have had a famously turbulent history, splitting in 1980 before reforming several times over the decades. Their legacy, however, is untouchable.

The band has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, won six Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, just last month, their 1976 ‘Greatest Hits’ collection became the first album ever to be certified quadruple diamond in the US, marking 40 million copies sold.
