The 2026 BRIT Awards were meant to be a night of legacy and love for Ozzy Osbourne, instead Kelly Osbourne has found herself fighting off a fresh wave of online nastiness.
Kelly and Sharon Osbourne took the stage on February 28th to accept Ozzy’s posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award, a moment that should’ve been about celebrating one of heavy music’s most untouchable icons, but in the hours that followed, social media pivoted hard with some commenters taking aim at Kelly’s appearance (per Loudwire).
It didn’t take long for her to respond:
Kelly Osbourne Calls Out Online ‘Cruelty’
After copping criticism about her weight and overall appearance, Kelly took to Instagram Stories to address the backlash head on, she wrote:
‘There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most. None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character. I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!‘

This isn’t the first time Kelly has had to shut down commentary since Ozzy’s passing last July, while many fans have shown support, the darker corners of the internet have kept the criticism coming.
Grief plays out differently for everyone, watching strangers dissect it in real time feels especially bleak.
A Powerful BRIT Awards Tribute To Ozzy
On stage, Sharon Osbourne delivered an emotional speech, calling Ozzy “authentic”, “gifted”, and “totally unpredictable”, she reminded the room that he remained fiercely proud of his Birmingham roots, even after conquering the world.
Kelly kept it short but heartfelt, thanking fans for loving her father “as much as we do” before signing off with a nod to Birmingham: “Up the Villa”.
The ceremony closed with a tribute performance of ‘No More Tears’, featuring Robbie Williams, Zakk Wylde, Robert Trujillo, Adam Wakeman and Tommy Clufetos (Per Loudwire).
The night was about honouring a legend, the online noise that followed says more about the state of social media than it does about Kelly Osbourne.
