A Record Born Under Pressure
Released at a turning point for the band, ‘Jet Age’ followed the breakout success of 1998’s ‘Sumo’, with ARIA wins, Big Day Out slots and relentless touring behind them, internal shifts added another layer of intensity. Founding guitarist Chris Tennent departed, with Tim Henwood stepping in.

“We felt so much pressure going in to make Jet Age because of the success of Sumo and the departure of our founding member, guitarist Chris Tennent…” Sarah McLeod recalled, admitting fears the creative spark might fade, instead, it strengthened (per press release).
Henwood echoed that sentiment: “Our very first co-writing session together became the album’s first single, “Gravity.” I’m incredibly proud of Jet Age and grateful for the opportunity to have been part of The Superjesus story.”
Produced by Ed Buller in Sydney after writing sessions in Los Angeles, the album sharpened the band’s sound and delivered staples including ‘Gravity’, ‘Secret Agent Man’, ‘Enough To Know’ and ‘Second Sun’, peaking at #5 on the ARIA Albums Chart and going platinum in 2002.
A New Era Meets A Classic
Fresh off their 2025 self titled album debuting at #10 on the ARIA Australian Chart, The Superjesus are hardly coasting on nostalgia, for newer members Ben Todd and Cam Blockland, the tour hits differently.
Todd said, “Playing for this tour feels like plugging straight into history… these songs still hit hard.”
Blockland added that revisiting deeper cuts like ‘Over To You’ feels like rediscovering the record all over again.
Joining the tour are The Art and The After, both handpicked by McLeod.
