Sepultura’s farewell tour landed in Melbourne with a packed Forum and a crowd that knew exactly what they were there for — to witness the final chapter of one of metal’s most influential bands.

Local openers Starve set things off early, flying the Melbourne flag with a high-energy set that wasted no time getting the room moving. A circle pit formed quickly and held strong, setting the tone for the chaos that would follow.

When Sepultura took the stage, the shift in intensity was immediate. The band sounded tight and fully dialled in, with their new drummer stepping up seamlessly — locked, precise, and driving the set with confidence. It was a performance that honoured their legacy without feeling like a nostalgia act, pulling from across their catalogue while still pushing forward.

A standout moment came with the live debut of ‘The Place’, lifted from their upcoming farewell EP The Cloud of Unknowing. Dropping new material into a farewell tour could feel like a risk, but here it landed with purpose — a reminder that even as they close the book, Sepultura aren’t standing still.

There was a weight to the night that didn’t need to be overstated. For generations of metal fans, Sepultura’s influence runs deep, and Melbourne showed up accordingly. The pit stayed alive, the crowd stayed loud, and the band delivered a send-off that felt both deserved and overdue.
