Louis and Lestat may be undead, but Anne Rice spin off Talamasca: The Secret Order is just plain dead, as AMC pulls the plug.
We’re getting a third season of AMC’s acclaimed Anne Rice adaptation Interview With The Vampire, this time titled The Vampire Lestat because, hey, the real party is just about to start. However, we won’t be getting another season of its sister series, Talamasca: The Secret Order, with Deadline reporting that AMC have cancelled the horny-spooky series after a thin six episodes.
Premiering in October 2025 on AMC and starring Nicholas Denton, Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Celine Buckens, Talamasca: The Secret Order focused on the titular shadowy organisation of scholars and mystics that keep an eye on all the various vampires, witches, and assorted things that go bump in the night that inhabit what they’re now calling the Immortal Universe. Every dark fantasy series winds up with one of these at some point – they’re usually called Watchers or something.
But we won’t be watching these watchers any more, it seems.
In a statement, AMC said, “While we are not proceeding with another season of Talamasca: The Secret Order, we are proud of the series and grateful for the efforts of everyone involved. The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise.”
But never fear, The Vampire Lestat drops on June 7, in which Sam Reid’s louche lamia takes up a career as a rock star, the self-obsessed brat that he is, and tells his side of the story we saw unfold in the first couple of seasons, which may differ markedly from that of Louis (Jacob Anderson), the vampire being interviewed. And a third season of Mayfair Witches is also due this year, but no release date has been set.
