As No Doubt prepare for their Las Vegas residency, long time member Dumont spoke about his health issues on Instagram.
Long-serving No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont revealed he has early onset Parkinson’s disease in a short video posted on Instagram on Saturday.
The news comes as the band, who reformed for Coachella in 2024 following a nine year hiatus, gear up for an 18-night residency at the Las Vegas Sphere, which kicks off on May 6.
Dumont speaks about his excitement for the upcoming string of shows and his joy at revisiting his tenure with No Doubt, who he joined in 1988, before pivoting to his health issues.
“So a number of years ago I was experiencing a number of symptoms,” Dumont says. “I went to my doctor, I went to a neurologist, did a whole bunch of tests, and I was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease. It’s been a struggle, it’s a struggle every day.”
Dumont goes on to assure fans that he’ll still be joining Nod Doubt for the Las Vegas shows, saying he’ll post another video detailing his specific symptoms and prognosis later.
“The good news is I can still play music, I can still play guitar,” he says. “I’ve been doing really well. I’ve just been very inspired by other people who have come out to talk about their health issues on social media and that sort of thing. I think it helps erase some of the stigma and it raises awareness obviously, and awareness is really important for prevention and for research.”
Dumont wrapped up by saying, “I’m really excited about the shows, can’t wait to see everybody.”
No Doubt bandmates Adrian Young and Tony Kanal both shared their support for Dumont in the comments, with Young saying, “My friend, bandmate, and hero……I love you brother.” while Kanal added, “Love you beyond words my friend. Can’t wait to get on stage with you again.”
