Another time, same place, even more Hunger Games.
The first trailer for The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping has arrived, taking us back to the bloody and beautiful world of Panem, where the poor must wage bitter combat for the entertainment of the rich and the subjugation of their fellows, but the spark of rebellion is ever nurtured. You know the drill.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping Trailer
What’s the plot?
Set 24 years before The Hunger Games, Sunrise On The Reaping takes us back to the 50th Games, the Second Quarter Quell, where we see how a young Haymitch Abernathy, forced to compete, gets his goddamn soul ripped out to become the bitter, Woody Harrelson-played alcoholic we met in the original film.
It seems that as a young guy living in dirt poor District 12, Haymitch was head over heels about a Covey girl named Lenore Dove, only for his life to get upturned when he’s selected to compete in the anniversary Games. He’s then roped into an attempt to bring down the fascist government forever but, given this is a prequel, it’s safe to say it doesn’t go well.
