The metal and hardcore world is still reeling from the loss of Harm’s Way guitarist and HardLore co host Bo Lueders, and over the weekend, his closest friends gave him a send off that felt as loud and personal as the life he lived.
Lueders’ ashes made their way to WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, carried into Allegiant Stadium for what’s been described as his final victory lap (via The PRP).
A farewell on the biggest stage
Lueders passed away on April 2nd at age 38, with early reports referencing mental health struggles, the response from the scene was immediate, raising over $164,000 to cover funeral costs, with remaining funds directed toward mental health services in Chicago.
That sense of community didn’t stop there, over WrestleMania weekend, HardLore co-host Colin Young and Lueders’ partner Taylor brought his ashes to the event in a custom urn styled after The Undertaker, a nod that any wrestling fan would clock instantly.
With help from WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, a longtime friend, Lueders was given a proper send off inside the biggest wrestling event on the planet.
Young later described the tribute simply as Bo’s ‘last ride’.
Wrestling, hardcore, and chosen family
Lueders’ world wasn’t limited to music, he was deeply connected to pro wrestling and his circle reflected that crossover. Punk, Brody King (God’s Hate/AEW), and Danhausen were all part of his close knit group and attended his funeral earlier this month.
Bringing him into WrestleMania wasn’t a stunt, it felt like a natural extension of who he was and the people he surrounded himself with, friends reportedly spent the weekend taking his ashes around Las Vegas, sharing moments that blurred the line between grief and celebration.
More than a tribute
There’s something heavy about this one, not just the loss, but the way the community rallied around it, the fundraising, presence and follow through, Lueders wasn’t just another name in the scene, he was someone people showed up for, even after he was gone.
WrestleMania is built on spectacle, but this moment cut through all of that, a group of friends making sure one of their own got a send off that actually meant something.
